Endurance Racer Adrian O’Sullivan who has completed both the Transcontinental and the TransAmerica has turned his hand to organising an unsupported race in Ireland.
The TransAtlanticWay; 2500 km, one stage, self-supported road bike race between Dublin and Cork incorporating the coastal wild Atlantic way will happen on June 19th 2016.
Starting in Dublin you make your own route to get to CP1 at Derry then follow the compulsory route route the nook and crannies of the West Coast to the CP2 at Kinsale in the South. Then you navigate to the finish at Cork. Bike bag/box and trackers are included in the (sizeable) entry fee.
It’s a spectacular windswept route Wild Atlantic Way site which could be amazing or brutal, your in the hands of the weather gods for that one.
This is a cracking cycling blog for a touring view of the route
